Has anyone been to Cancun?

I'm planning a trip to Cancun this spring break with a group of friends and wanted just hear some experiences people had with Cancun. I'm aware that it's a vacation hotspot and there shouldn't be any further discussion about it, but if anyone could provide some feedback on their trip there, that'd be great.

Also, my main concern is.... the budget.

For about a week of stay and not living too extravagantly, how much do you think I'll realistically spend?

ive been to cancun probably like 12 times

i'm guessing you're doing spring break? where you staying? Most hotels have guides or promoters that work with the hotel. GO WITH THEM EVERY NIGHT. I know at my hotel, it was pretty much 45 bucks a night, and you get VIP bottle service with open bar..IE they bring you a new bottle when you run out..

definitely do all inclusive, as you'll save a good amount on drink (especially if you're going for a piss up)

What hotel are you staying at?

take the public bus everywhere..they're about 6 pesos (60 cents) and after dark they're an absolute blast

oh yeah...dont pee on the beach..cops will make you empty your wallet

Thanks for the info. Yep, trying to be a little productive on the fun side during spring break before I start my FT gig. Actually, I haven't booked my flight nor hotel. I'm looking for some good, reasonably priced travel packages. Do you recommend any websites?

Cancun is awesome. Definitely the best place in Mexico IMO. Best beaches and water. I will warn you, although you can find some cheaper or budget hotels, Cancun has been built up and upscaled quite a bit in the past decade or so. Lots of high-end stores and restaurants.

If you want some dinner recommendations and aren't afraid to splurge one night, let me know and I can post them.

As Tony stated, the buses literally take you everywhere and are incredibly cheap. They run 24/7.

For a week probably $1000-1200 should be enough including hotel and flight. The amount you spend there depends on you. Are you going to spend most of the time on the beach, doing activities or just going there to find easy meat? Partying isn't anything you won't see in NYC or other major city, but the weather is nice and women will be wild during spring break so that should be fun. Clubs for $40-50 a night with unlimited alcohol sounds about right (but alcohol is significantly watered down).

Do what you want not what you can!

I looked into various websites and the total budget for hotel and flight doesn't come anywhere near $1000-$1200. The cheapest I saw was $1600 and gradually increases to $2000+. Am I missing out on some good deals or what?

I second this. Even if you're still not grown and immature. Cancun is too god damn touristy.
