Haven't Facebook and LinkedIn made things easier for extreme level stalkers?

I have this creepy dangerous type thick accented russian stalker. She says she went to American University in Cairo and MIT but I found that to be not true.

Brief backstory: She and I had an internet fling/whatever you call it (6 months) and she lives in Chicago. I've talked to her and video chatted with her for hours so I know she's real but all the details about her like her name, every one of them details were false and a lie. When I discovered that, I stopped talking to her. Since then she's been blackmailing me. Now I almost believe that she's a member of a russian mafia/cartel and she proved that by trying to have me killed and framing me for things I don't want to say on here.

The thing here is that she knows everything about me like where I work and where I live (although I've moved now but can't change jobs) and now I'm kinda paranoid all the time. So I've now deactivated my LinkedIn and made everything private on my FB.

Sorry for being a p*ssy. She also has other things that would compromise me so I'm scared to tell anyone. How should I deal with this stalker? She's pretty af though and had wool pulled over my eyes and I'm ashamed of myself now :(

Define "extreme level" stalking.

I feel that to be extreme it would require you to follow the person around, and have a minute by minute schedule of what they do everyday. Facebook and LinkedIn aid in this; I think the stat is that ~75% of divorces now mention FB in the preceding.

Long story short, maybe don't get somewhat catfished by a Russian lady who lives multiple states away.

she's not going to have you whacked, she wouldn't waste time on a low life like you. she's looking for easy money, if she was out for blood, it'd be a celebrity or something (imagine catfishing will smith's son!).

here's what you do:

  1. STOP RESPONDING

  2. get in shape. learn self defense (BJJ & muay thai specifically) - it won't help if the mob is after you, but you won't walk around like an abused dog. it's amazing what biceps and the ability to throw a good punch does for your confidence

  3. meet in person. it's fine beginning conversations online, but always try to meet in person ASAP. if they constantly make excuses, they're either not real or not serious. don't let a girl monopolize your time just because she's hot

  4. if it seems too good to be true it probably is. I'm a good looking confident (cocky?) guy, but if taylor hill messaged me on instagram, I'd know I'm being worked.

  5. let this be a lesson to you. don't say things you wouldn't want repeated to you. don't give anyone ammo to allow you to be blackmailed. when in doubt, keep it to yourself.

  6. trust, but verify. I believe most people are good, but you need to have a good bullshit detector, which it sounds like could use some work.

  7. oh yeah, and if after ghosting her, she continues to threaten you, notify authorities

godspeed

This is serious matter but I laughed out loud lmao. Thanks man. I already have the biceps and in shape but I guess I'm just a p*ssy and I'm not ashamed of admitting that. Thanks Brofessor!

She really tried to have you killed? I'd consider joining the Italian mafia or something. Since Whitey got smoked idk if the Irish mob is taking apps at the moment. Become a made man and turn the tables on her. I hear the Genovese summer associate program is a good way in the door.

Realistically, if this actually getting this bad, contact the police immediately. Also, move somewhere safe and discrete and if youre really freaked out, be prepared to protect yourself.

Dayman?

Are they helping? If you're in/near a populous area, police forces should have means of assisting you with this kind of thing. It's always tough but they often have some resources on hand, and sometimes large cybercrime divisions.

If they are slacking, go to their station in person. Sometimes you really gotta drive a point home.

Guys this is the girl. Now don't tell blame me for trusting her and giving her benefit of the doubt. I suspended my desire of meeting her for some time because I really trusted her and kinda almost "loved" her as well. Yeah, call me whatever you want. I know I was so stupid for trusting her but don't pretend that you wouldn't do it as well if you were in my shoes cause she's pretty as hell.

The thing is that she partly CATFISHED me. I thought she was legit so I trusted her. I haven't talked to her in a month but she keeps coming back from time to time to threaten me and shit like that
