....i'm just as confused as you are. i know the fiscal cliff stuff was supposed to help the budget a lot, but i thought we were still going to be running a significant deficit
Politics aside, isn't it kind of a big deal if the country starts digging out of debt? Why isn't the pres giving a speech or something? Has Jim Cramer's head exploded yet?
The surplus posted was for the month of June, meaning that the surplus was for all revenues and expenses for that particular month. Our YTD deficit is still significant, we just are now posting monthly surpluses which will hopefully dig us out of the yearly deficit. But yeah less debt generally is good, although krugman thinks the opposite.
that is NOT what krugman thinks though, i'm surprised austrians such as yourself are able to read at all
you really sum up krugman's ideas quite poorly krugman isn't in favor of debt at all he takes the position that it's more of a necessary evil
