Yeah, I usually try to keep an eye on the pulse of things but I've been swamped since about that time. I tuned in yesterday, and now the US is starting to turn a profit? And why isn't this bigger news?

Politics aside, isn't it kind of a big deal if the country starts digging out of debt? Why isn't the pres giving a speech or something? Has Jim Cramer's head exploded yet?

The surplus posted was for the month of June, meaning that the surplus was for all revenues and expenses for that particular month. Our YTD deficit is still significant, we just are now posting monthly surpluses which will hopefully dig us out of the yearly deficit. But yeah less debt generally is good, although krugman thinks the opposite.

"Yes. Money has been a little bit tight lately, but at the end of my life, when I'm sitting on my yacht, am I gonna be thinking about how much money I have? No. I'm gonna be thinking about how many friends I have and my children and my comedy albums."

you really sum up krugman's ideas quite poorly krugman isn't in favor of debt at all he takes the position that it's more of a necessary evil
