High fructose corn syrup

So I was in South Africa last week drinkin' a Coke-Cola when I noticed that they use sugar as opposed to high fructose corn syrup that we see in America. My understanding is that this is due to tariffs imposed on sugar imports in order to give the business to American farmers. This is such bullshit because the Coke actually tasted better.

Damn. Currently in Europe, will check out the soda here. I normally hate soda so maybe if it's made with something natural instead of all the artificial shit we ingest at home I can stomach it.

I am permanently behind on PMs, it's not personal.

dude, Mexican coke is like that. Everyone knows that. They usually trickle across into the US, just gotta look in Hispanic neighborhoods. They're not hard to find in Texas at least.

HFCS is awful. This is why I don't drink Soda except during Passover. Passover Coke is the greatest soda ever since it's Old School and uses real sugar.

Honestly, it's all about the real sugar...

2x2Matrix:
You can get Mexican coke in Philly. That shit is amazing.

And not in the Pablo Escobar sense of the word.

One of those lights, slightly brighter than the rest, will be my wingtip passing over.

Hehe... yeah... coke is made with real sugar in a lot of places and it tastes 5000% better. It's also a LOT better for you.

I don't drink HFCS because it's like worse for you then smoking... and i don't just mean it makes you fat. It like literally directly gives you diabetes and all kinds of other shit... it's TERRIBLE for you.

I think coke would consider switching back, despite the higher costs of sugar, if it weren't for all the farmers in the US (that produce HFCS) lobbying, etc... you should read up on it. There's a whole war against HFCS and there are factions on both sides doing all kinds of crazy shit!

You realize there have been a ton of studies that show HFCS has the exact same impact on diet and health (when consumed in the proportion) as pure sugar.

If I had asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses - Henry Ford

people in the HFCS business are lobbying to get the name changed to "corn sugar"- something less chemical-y sounding.
i'm all about the chemicals though, bring on the cherry coke zero.

People are nuts man. They worry about second hand smoke yet they live in the city and breath auto exhaust. People care about real sugar, but go tanning.

No one wants genetically modified foods, but we eat twinkies which require modern science to create.

My dad used to run a mexican food distribution company and most of the products they imported, coke included, used better ingredients then the shit they put in food here. Not in terms of health (using actual lard etc.), but better in taste. If your in Houston go by Fiesta and pick up some good food and a pinata.

For thousands of years, human beings died from food spoiling or not enough food because it wouldn't store. We finally come up with a way to make food last and remain fresh. Now we are saying that it is killing us. Cannot win. Lets go back to pickling and salting everything. Ugg.
