How are Primericas products?

I work at a top 5 BB where I'm considering transitioning into wealth management. I mentioned this to my buddy whos been in Primerica for 12 years. Thing is that after 12 years he isn't making nearly as much as the financial advisors at my firm do. His counter was that he "owns" his book of business as an independent contractor and if anything should happen to him his family could still receive financial benefits from it. Hes under the impression that if he keeps at it he'll have his 100k a month income eventually.

Anyone out there familiar with Primerica's products and how they compare to other financial institutions? Are their products any good? How do their commissions compare? Do they really own their book of business? I just want to be able to counter any of his arguments he may have. I have a deep knowledge in investment products but I've never really "managed" someones money before so I'm not quite sure how my firm would compare to Primerica.
