How to be taken seriously as a young person

Have I asked this question before? I feel like I have but am too lazy to look. In any case it'd be great to have another discussion about it if it's already been asked. How in the fuck do you get people to take you seriously in this business?

I applied to be on the board of a statewide insurance cooperative, but the stupid cooperative had the participants vote on who would sit, which I'm pretty sure is why I lost - all they saw was a photo of me and read a paragraph on my background and I'm pretty sure my photo tanked me because I wasn't old and "experienced" enough. Pissssed about that. I feel like I need gray hair, a gut, some wrinkles or all three for people to take me seriously.

So how the hell do you get older people to take you seriously besides "do a good job" and "be professional" and other lame answers that all us young people are already doing?

First step.

Don't admit to being to lazy to do a simple search on a website.

Second. Who cares. Why would you want do be on some committee full of old people who don't take you seriously?
