How to hit the driver 300 yards?

This is a question I get quite often and a valid one at that. Hitting the driver long will give you short irons into the green and make par 5s more manageable. In order to hit a drive 300 you will need 1. 105+ MPH club head speed 2. Proper launch and Spin 3. Not a slice.

Clubhead Speed

To get a fast club head speed you need a strong shoulder turn and/or fast hip rotation like rory. Since most of us aren't that flexible I find it is easier to work on shoulder turn. Like other sports, the greater and more vicious of a shoulder turn, the more velocity you can create into the golf ball. For me I like to imagine that I'm shifting to the rightside of my body and coiling back on the downswing. Doing military press workouts has helped me immensely in creating a bigger shoulder-turn. I was gaining 20 yards a year when I first started doing them as a 13 year old until I turned 17. The gimmicks on Golf Channel are fairly useless.

Proper Launch and Spin

This is something to test with a launch monitor but ideally your driver spin should be under 3000 and the launch angle should be 10 or more degrees. Proper contact on the driver just above the middle of the face tends to give a high-launching and low-spin tee shot.

Not A Slice

Generally a fade or slice will go significantly shorter than a draw since most amateurs don't know how to hit a fade with proper form. Hitting a draw will have less spin and a more ideal launch angle which can equate to at least 10-20 more yards.

Yeah and the thing is it is a BIG difference in how far the ball goes. Pro golfers can hit a fade correctly but joe blow loses a ton of yards by hitting a slice.
