How to make work friends ..

I moved to the U.S 2 years ago. I work at a BB bank. I am doing good work wise and my seniors like me. However, one thing that hurts me is that I am not part of the cool gang and am not included in everything the junior team does. I am not invited for coffee, lunch or other internal things. I am probably not that relatable to others as I do not follow American sports, and I do not know local places, traditions. I also take the blame for being shy. Is there any networking event, app I could use to gain confidence and work on my people skills. It’s quite lonely and hurtful to be like this…
