SF is really safe outside of tenderloin / civic center areas. Where are you walking? And at what hours?

If this is solely about commuting to work, as long as you don't pass through TL/civic center shitholes you will be ok. Would not recommend walking around late at night in areas like where the cash app homie got murdered late at night, it's a very safe area but since office activity is nonexistent in SF post pandemic, there is 0 foot traffic

Thanks for the reply. I’ll be from in between Russian and Nob Hill to FiDi. Just curious, are most banks still doing hybrid work? Curios because if I start full time I’d really like to live out in the burbs and commute in (Walnut Creek area) but probably wouldn’t want to do that 5 days a week.

Russian and Nob Hill are extremely safe neighborhoods and easy walks into FiDi.  If you decide to commute in from Walnut Creek, BART is going to be your best bet but at that distance, it'll be a lengthier commute (i.e., ~45 min station to station). I personally would suggest living in the city or in a closer suburb; every bank that I'm aware of is now in the office at least a couple days a week. Agree that outside of the Tenderloin and parts of SOMA, SF is actually quite safe (of course, use the same street sense you'd apply in any major city).
