That looks painful.
Someone needs to help that dude out before he hurts himself.
I won't make fun of him- everyone has to start somewhere. But if you can't do the exercise right, use less weight. You are just wasting time otherwise.
The title is priceless:
"You get one guess as to which hand Goober here flogs his monkey with"
Apparently Goober flogs with his right hip... I'm surprised that nobody in that gym said anything.
That is absolutely the worst form i've ever seen in my entire life
Seriously I thought he was handicapped at first.
And THAT ladies and gentlemen is where hernias come from.
this
he should be using dumbbells to force himself to use both arms
Is this why everyone keeps laughing at me on chest days?
Looks like 205 to me...but ok.
135...
There were 2 sets of plates on each side
That or 185. Outer plates look 35 but can be 25 too. He's too skinny to lift 205 imo. Good thing he put clips on the ends.
That was a joke
Just bustin your balls bro.
i can do 120 get at me
that's hot
I always bench press over 9000
Shit, they're busted :/
This video has to be staged because no one would honestly let someone do that, at least not at the gym I go to.
I like how he thought holding the bar up for 15 seconds would give him that extra strength needed to do another "rep". Way to accentuate the positive movement.
It's a 45 and a 35, so more like 205.
Wonder how long he can hold it up twitching his leg like that....
I dont see what you guys are talking about? He has perfect form for someone who suffers from down syndrome
Wow...i'm shocked how long that went on
A guy at my old gym benched really similar to that. Less hip movement, but same fucked up arm movement
Lol, this guy's gonna get a hernia if he keeps that shit up. I remember when I first started powerlifting, I thought I would start with 175 lbs. I couldn't even do one rep. Instead I started with 85 lbs just to get the form right and got up to 225 within 6 months. Peeked at 265. Anyone have any tips for breaking past your barrier? I've been doing wendler's 531 for a couple years now and I just can't break past 265. It's really starting to bug me. My goal is to get to 300 lbs (I weigh 170).
Depends if you are failing with your chest or triceps.
Bands can be great for breaking through a plateau:

Chains are fun as well. Board press can make you feel like a beast.
Also, try switching up your reps/volume/grips and also your secondary exercises. If you are stuck you need some sort of shock to the system to get you going again. Trying a different program completely might be beneficial (I'm partial to Westside for Skinny Bastards by Defranco).
Make sure you are using proper technique, this will help you get every bit out of your current level of strength. When you train, lift fast. If you have a couple buddies that you work out with, you can do bench press negatives to help build additional strength. Also, if you haven't already done it, spend some extra time on your triceps and preferably not the same day that you do your chest. You want to lift as heavy as possible when you work on your triceps and sometimes that weight is diminished if you are doing your tricep exercises after your chest exercises. Also, maybe switch up your routine a little bit and see if that helps at all. Sometimes the body will become accustomed to certain programs and the intended impact will be diminished...switching it up might help you break through that plateau.

Thanks for the suggestions cph and duff. I'll try them out. I've been looking into DeFranco's program. Why do you recommend westside over built like a badass? I've heard really good things about both.
Btw, how much can you guys bench and what's your weight? My one rep maxs are:
bench: 265 squat: 355 deadlift: 335
I'm pretty embarassed about my squat tbh.
I like Westside just because it's a pretty flexible routine and easy to keep interesting. I'm not religious about following it either. I think it's more important to mix up what you do vs. doing one program over another.
Haven't done a true max in any of these exercises in a long time. My best guess would be 295 bench, 305 squat (if I'm using perfect form) and 340 deadlift. My squat has never been the same since a dislocated hip my freshman year of college so that is a bit of an outlier. I work out in a fitness center in my building, so limited as to what equipment I have available which sucks. Weight is usually in the 180-185 range.
I will give you some old stats, since it's been many years since I've worked out for any extended length of time. When I was in the Army I weighed between 200 and 210. The most I ever maxed out at on bench press was 315 but, in my defense, it was after I did a rep at 300, then a rep at 305 and then another rep at 310...so probably not a true max in the sense that it was the most that I could lift, but a max in the sense that it was the most that I actually did lift. Basically I thought 300 would be my max but did that easily and felt I could do a bit more so I added the subsequent amount of weight and ended working my way up to the 315 mark. I'm not sure what that my translate to in an actual max amount of weight but I'm guess a bit more.
Anyways, I've always had huge legs, so I've never focused on them when working out or training. I grew up playing soccer and my legs developed early, so much so that I was stuck wearing briefs to my soccer games because my legs wouldn't fit through the holes in the boxers that fit my waist...or if I could get my legs in, the fit was so tight that the boxers would be stretched and rip whenever I moved abruptly or ran. Lucky for me my boxer briefs were invented and became mainstream, lol. This can still be an issue when I'm shopping for pants so (1) I am like a girl, I have to try on 50 different pairs to find 1 pair of jeans that fits decent and (2) I often end up wearing pants that are a few sizes too big for my waist otherwise I look like I stole Justin Bieber's suitcase.
Regards
that squat deadlift ratio is rough.
Your deadlift should be significantly higher than your squat.
Did westside for 3 years..it works..hands down.
Good advice on here I'll have to check out, I'm 6'5" and could never bench more than 225... honestly embarrassing for my frame.
I don't know what your frame is like for certain, but at 6'5" I assume you have long arms. Most would agree that you're at somewhat of a disadvantage benching. I am 6'3" and have long arms for my height (37/38 sleeves) and have always had a bench that lagged behind my dead lift and squat. If you follow one of the programs above (Wendler/ ws4sb) your'e all but guaranteed to increase that though, it just may take time because you start with really modest %'s.
eriginal: I'm 6'5" and never got passed like 240 even though I played football, we have to push so much further :-p
That's cause you're a Canadian.
Haha that's what I'm sayin'! My bitch ass little friends always make me look bad.
Excuses.
yea i'm 6'2 210 and my squat is way more than DL...but then again, i'm bi's and tri's heavy..everything else is just fat and ribs
