I'm Back. And I'm Coming Home.

Have I got some great stuff lined up for you guys.

It's good to be back after a nice long vacation. First things first: Congratulations to Patrick on his nuptials this past Saturday. I wish you guys all the happiness and success in the world. Mazel tov, brother.

This was a life-altering vacation for me in several ways, not the least of which is that it forced my wife and I to decide we're leaving France. To be fair, we knew we'd be leaving in the next couple years anyway, but now we've moved the timetable way up and we're looking to un-ass this country ASAP. We're taking a hard look at Panama, but if I were a betting man (and you all know that I am), I'd wager we're back in New Orleans within a year.

Why the sudden change of heart? Well, it's not all that sudden. Paris has been grating on both of our nerves for some time now, and spending time in the US where shit just works drove the nail into the coffin for us. My wife left for NOLA in early July with the kids (which enabled my epic bender with Rufiolove), so she had a full six weeks back in the States. I had to drag her kicking and screaming back onto the plane.

To make matters worse, our dream home is on the market, and you guys can imagine how badly the wife and kids want to get out of apartment living and into a place where we're not up each other's butts everytime we turn around. I'm just dying to get to a place where there is central air and heat, my interior wiring isn't routed through a pre-WWII fusebox (true story), and there is reliable, fast, and free Internet everywhere. Honestly, the list goes on and on.

As for WSO, I'm going to be stepping up my game: more in-depth pieces on the stuff you guys are most interested in, more interviews, more news you can use. And if you haven't circled me on Google+ yet, you should do that now, because that's going to be like Bonus Bananas every day.

I'm glad to be back and I'm excited by everything I've got in the pipeline for you guys. And it's nice to know that my days here in Paris are numbered.

So what did I miss?

Eddie, can you list anything else you don't like about Paris? Im living in USA, but planning to do the opposite of you, probably move to Europe for awhile. Thoughts? and anything you can about other cities like London, Frankfurt, Milan? would be greatly appreciated!

The list probably deserves a post all its own. Infrastructure sucks, I've grown to hate having millions of people up my ass, but mostly the US just does everything (except food) better. Shit doesn't close in the US; here everything closes at 8 and all day on Sunday. It's ridiculous in a first world city of this size.

Can't speak to London other than how expensive it is, Frankfurt might as well be Cleveland (not necessarily a bad thing - it's the closest place to here that feels like 'Murica with all its fast food joints and shopping malls), Milan I have no clue but hear it's the best place in Italy for hot chicks.

I feel like I've been missing out on this Braverman business, being a relative newcomer. Glad to see you're back.

WELCOME BACK TO THE FREEST COUNTRY ON EARTH WOOO (sorry had to do it I know you're not even back in the states yet).

My drinkin' problem left today, she packed up all her bags and walked away.

Congrats on coming back to the motherland.

I apologize in advance for the unnecessary bidding war you have unknowingly entered against me for that house.

You're born, you take shit. You get out in the world, you take more shit. You climb a little higher, you take less shit. Till one day you're up in the rarefied atmosphere and you've forgotten what shit even looks like. Welcome to the layer cake, son.

When it comes to basic infrastructure, it's hard to beat the good ol' USofA. Missing out on traditional summer barbecues & not having TV access to the big 4 sports would also eventually get to me.

Dude fuck you, it's not sarcastic. If you don't throw in your buck-0-five, then who will?

'Murica.

This is good news on many levels, and agree people should circle Eddie on Google+, I did a while ago and he posts some good stuff over there.

As far as what you've missed... Well, you seem to keep up on news and tv shows pretty well, so probably not a whole lot. Are you aware of Duck Dynasty?

Only if you change that carpet, Eddie.

Still have that bender story open in another tab, need to read when I get the chance.

I am permanently behind on PMs, it's not personal.

We gave Lima, Peru a pretty hard look, but the school options just weren't there for the kids. While I could picture myself in a place like Valpo, I can't see my family there.

International school? Your kids will be Third Culture Kids like me!

Congratulations Patrick!

Thanks guys! Welcome back Eddie!

Christ man, you had to deal with the media circus of WSO breaking the dead intern story on the day after your wedding!? Brutal stuff, sorry to hear. Congrats all the same though!

Until now, I actually thought that the part about living in France was a joke like the rest of Eddie's profile.

Welcome back, house looks nice. Much better than living in France.

Douchebag attention to detail post of the day coming... Isn't it "ruFiolove" not "ruBiolove"? ;)

(We already went back and forth on twitter but was shocked you chose Paris over BA/Thailand like most ex-wall street. NOLA is an extremely under rated city.)

This just proves once again why women under 30 shouldn't be allowed to vote. I can't tell you how many stupid, infantile girls I know who go to Europe for a week on a vacation and are like, "OMG, Europe is so much better than the U.S. I'm going to be moving to Spain/France/Ireland/London, etc. in the next year. Looking for a teaching position. Any ideas?"

Yeah, pretty much everywhere is awesome when you're on vacation.

Hey Eddie, I've recently moved abroad for a couple years to a place where "shit doesn't work right" and am wondering if I made a mistake. Do you regret moving to France?

"I don't know how to explain to you that you should care about other people."

I've been in France for only a year now and ALL of those things Eddie mentioned are driving me slightly crazy. That and the unavailability of a decent American beer in bars/restaurants.

Sweet place.
