Interview Magazine: “Meet Wall Street’s baby-faced new finance bros — they flash $10K Rolex watches, wear Celine suits and say life in NYC costs too much”

The meme below is my reaction to the Goldman Analyst splayed across the couch in that NYP article. Certainly a story with a sensationalist tilt, but wonder if it points to a more fundamental shift in the industry? I imagine the guys from that article are cooked at their jobs?

I'm egotistical enough to know that doing an interview like this would make me look like a gigachud and turn it down

Agreed. Can't imagine HR is happy with this either

Usually the bank would decline to comment but the dumbness of this made them actually respond
Goldman Sachs spokesperson Tony Fratto told The Post in a statement: “Goldman Sachs media relations did not approve these interviews.”

>Like ******, **** ****** graduated from an Ivy League school (Cornell) and works at Goldman Sachs. He says he’s currently on the lookout for a long-term love and can be found on the dating app Hinge.

It's so on-brand to introduce Cornell as "an Ivy League school" instead of just calling it Cornell.

These guys should be SALUTED for finally bringing some aesthetics and glory to a hated-on profession. Why cower in fear as you are abused at 80 hour weeks and not even allowed to speak up in meetings? Bring back the real Wall Street, and that’s what these kids are doing, and their hustle, spirit, aura and glamor is what wins clients, not diversity mandates, safetyism and gyno-centrism.

Seeing a lot of comments that are like "what's the big deal, why are they cooked."

Imagine you're in charge of a firm that has tens of thousands of employees, the vast majority of whom are just passing through, and your firm's name is synonymous with a certain prestige among the masses.

Do you really want to be concerned with how these thousands of people are going to go around flashing the firm's name every single day, every chance they get?  No. You're going to have a policy about not doing media where you embarrass the place.

You shouldn't even need a policy.  It's common sense.  I wouldn't want someone so dumb working for me when I have plenty of smart kids who want that job.

I'm talking, of course, about PWC.
