Investors, Equity Researchers, Underwriters...help a retail trader out?

I'm currently a college student trading bio-tech/pharma for some time now and it's been awesome (reading SEC/FDA fillings, Investor sentiment, etc), currently up 8% YTD. It's not amazing but I'm getting better.

$GILD acquired $KITE during Summertime and it was the easiest money ever, now they have consolidated back to the pre-acquisition stock-price.

Is there a way to determine if this company is undervalued amid the fact they bought out a company?

Just trying to learn a thing or two here ;). Apparently, according to the numbers, it's a steal with the acquisition but it's naive to think I'm outsmarting the market here.
