Is FRM a relative course for O&G sector?
Hi there,
I have 12 yrs of O&G upstream engg exp (I am 38 now). I quit from the job to pursue MBA. Currently I am doing Executive MBA which will finish by March 2019. (Some of you may think why Executive MBA at this age and without Job? But I can do only one job at a time. I am using MBA as two prong tool. so as to get back into O&G either from finance dept or go back to engg jobs ( which are very less and highly unpredictable).
Meanwhile One of my batchmate asked to join him for CFA and I was giving a thought to this idea. Suddenly I came across this course FRM which can give me a break in big Oil finance side. My efforts are to get into finance side of O&G overseas/Domestic or start new career in finance sector itself within India.
Mostly for rest of my career, I would be in India. Most Indian O&G companies are not pure play. Also I have found jobs relevant to FRM in financial service sector.
I need guidance. on following points
1. At 38, whether this course would help to get into finance sector or is it too late?
2. I found rare jobs in O&G requiring FRM certification. Do I stand a chance?
Regards,
Narendra
