Is it Worth it?

Recently saw an ad on handshake inviting me to a 5 day externship hosted by an Investment Management firm (MetLife, Geico, Aflac). Problem is I'd have to write five (5) 250-500 word essays on BS like "what does DEI mean to you" and "describe the most memorable that's happened to you in the workforce/school". Is shit like this really worth the time they expect you to put in? Is having another thing on your resume where maybe you'll learn something valuable (but mostly just something to throw onto resume) worth it for the time cost it expects?

... Investment Management firm (MetLife, Geico, Aflac)...

Those aren't Asset Management or Wealth Management firms.  Those are insurance companies, and different types of insurance too.  Something smells very fishy here.

The only difference between Asset Management and Investment Research is assets. I generally see somebody I know on TV on Bloomberg/CNBC etc. once or twice a week. This sounds cool, until I remind myself that I see somebody I know on ESPN five days a week.

Almost all insurers have large asset management arms, a huge chunk of profit comes from the float. With that said OP should be circumspect and make sure it's not the insurance agent side of the business l

I used to work for a subsidiary of one.  These firms aren't known for that.  It isn't PGIM here.  Outside MetLife it's auto and disability ins.
