The once energetic Mourinho has in recent days, looked laboured and tired. Instead of a man excluding confidence, he looks like someone who is battle weary.
Ever since his second stint at Chelsea ended, he has never looked like he getting back to the top of the game. Gone is his aura these days that he has actually taken to criticising Chris Smalling and Luke Shaw for being unwilling to play through the pain barrier although Smalling was later correctly ruled out due to a broken toe and Shaw is still recovering from his broken foot suffered last season.
It seems as tho Mourinho has lost the plot and is in need of a sabbatical after more than 15 top flight seasons. The likes of Conte, Klopp, Pochettino are all gaining ground on him, showing the enthusiasm and promise he showed when he was in his first few seasons at Chelsea and Inter.

If you look at it as a percentage of their money/revenue that they paid for him, it wasn't a whole lot compared to smaller teams who broke their own transfer records this summer. Also shirt sales help soften the money blow.
Alan Shearer's transfer fee was around 60% of Newcastle's revenue for the season. Pogba's fee is around 15% of Man Utds revenue

I have always hated Mourinho and I am glad his team (whom I also hate as a Liverpool fan) is doing terribly. Negative football should never lead to positive results. The more managers like him struggle the less likely other teams that should be playing the beautiful game resort to such defensive, long-ball, counterattacking tactics. Managers like Klopp and Guardiola have the right attitude, I hope Mou never wins another title again, he's done enough damage to football.
YES, he has completely lost the plot, the Smalling / Shaw criticism really proves that he is a terrible human being, doesn't care about his players (Luke Shaw had his leg completely destroyed last season, I think it's quite sensible for him to be on the cautious side). That being said, I am finding great pleasure in Manure's ineptitude and I hope that their uselessness will continue this Saturday!!
Mourinho looks to be a victim of Change, how Wenger was post 2004. MOU has a simple approach, get a world class striker/forward work with a solid Mid and a impenetrable defence. 5-4-1 diamond formation. The advent of ball playing full backs, lack of solid forwards and a team Like Liverpool scoring 3 goals per game with no striker makes his approach doomed. I watched Wenger struggle with Beautiful football with no results, he has adapted much but not MOU. Another Mid table finish
I think he's lost it. I don't think his football philosophy has evolved in the past 5-6 years. IMO football has seen a lot of change in the past couple of years and he just hasn't kept up. Can't score if you don't have the ball, and can't be scored on if you do have the ball.

Could also be because most of the team IS sh1t. How many ManU first teamers would start at any of the clubs currently head of them in the EPL? Pogba, De Gea. Ibra at Arsenal/Pool, probably not Chelsea/MANC. Maybe Mata, Martial/Dupay flash talent but clearly aren't Costa/Ageuro level strikers yet.
I was thoroughly distraught when Sir Alex said hes retiring. I could rant on and on about the problems but I think Mou still has it and the players are fighting it seems , though the league positions and some of the results and performances leave alot to be desired. I have watched Pogba at Juve since his debut against Parma in 2012 and he was absolutely fantastic for them in the 4 yrs he was there and is worth every penny , Im sure he will come good and United will be back to their best
I have faith. He needs a few transfer windows to build his team too. I think there are at least 6-7 players that could go tomorrow at United.
I strongly echo your views. I think players like Rojo, Fellaini, Depay etc need to go. Not because of a lack of talent or what. But the general sentiment is that they just don't cut it as united players in terms of hunger and discipline. Some of the squad seems to be more interested in their social media profiles than their on pitch results...
I don't quite understand how you can reach a final judgement after not even half a season. He's using the pretty much the same team LvG and Moyes had. Fergie's first season was atrocious too. This would be like hiring Jamie Dimon to run DB, and firing him after he misses expectations first quarter.
I didn't like Mourinho before he was our manager, but he should at least be given a proper shot.
Difference is Mourinho had a blank check to fix problems with the squad and instead of sensible purchases, pays ~100 mil for a hypebeast that takes way too many shots outside the box and 40 mil for a midfielder he keeps out of the starting squad. Remember, Mourinho rose to prominence by winning the Champions League with Porto and should be able to take relatively under powered teams a long way.
Ehh at the end of the day, I still think too many of those player's egos are inflated. I agree with Murinho's criticism of the players. Pain is part of any sport and life in general, there are more players who've succeeded in their ability to tolerate pain than just talent alone. I think it's totally the players' fault. There's no way in second season of Murinho's second spell that a title winning team can be that shitty. Players get complacent, same thing happened in Pellegrini's City team the second season. Once you win you get complacent.

The Real Madrid stint seems to have damaged him in a big way. Prior to his last season at Madrid, he prided himself in being a manager that had all of his players on his side. Players like Drogba literally crying when he first left Chelsea, Ibrahimovic claiming he would have "killed for Mourinho" whilst at Inter... that all ended when he (rightfully) dropped Casillas from a starting role, who in turn acted like a petulant child, particularly to the media (including his journalist wife). This naturally messed with the dynamics within the dressing room and snowballed into issues with Ronaldo, Pepe, etc.
Since then, he's gone from fervently defending his players in virtually every situation, to directly blaming specific players for defeats. Seems to just be very disillusioned these days and unable to pinpoint what's wrong.
As a Man U fan, it is frustrating to be on our 3rd coach since SAF. Mourinho is capable, but he may not have the play style for United. I don't think the locker room has his back, and that shows each week... could be having a Moyes moment again.
Let's revisit in 2-3yrs......
