Jan 17th NYC WSO Happy Hour Review

mod note: make sure to join the NYC mailing list to get updates about future NYC WSO events.

Well - here's a brief write up of the affair last Thursday (1/17). It was extremely mellow and low key, as are 99% of the WSO Events. One host never showed while the other bailed out. You know which ones you are and we love you anyway! This would never get done if it weren't for you guys.

As to the event itself, it was low key. We were in what I humbly refer to as the "Red Sox Room." Seeing as Galloway Hooker has been a long standby for places we host a WSO event at, this goes back a while. I think it was the first happy hour that Flake was at when this happened, but Flake got a little drunk and ended up puking in the other room before we escorted him out claiming that he was a piss drunk Red Sox fan. Yeah - we were in that room, so it's got a little history. It was nice as we had about 20 people attend the event with a great deal of new faces.

It was pretty cool to see a slew of lurkers, fresh faces and a few regulars showing up to the happy hour. It seems like the last few have definitely gotten some good press and we've had a number of new people show up. While there were some people that I would have loved to see show up, it was nice meeting new people and hoping that they would end up posting more here on WSO. I can think of a few lurkers I met that I would love to see posting here more often - and yes, to those lurkers don't be afraid to ask questions and get advice from people here, we don't bite. As always, the conversation ranged from high finance to low brow with a lot of advice being given to cover a lot of ground, ranging from Retail Equity Research to things like how to break in to specific career paths and just general finance discussion.

Oh, and TNA showed up. As always, it's a blast to drink with TNA when other mitigating circumstances aren't there. He's a real cool guy to drink with and for those that missed it, hopefully you can either drink with him down in Philly (which I hope to do once my endeavor is up and running because Philly is one hell of a Beer town) or make your way to the WSO conference and drink with him in the city.

Yeah, sorry there are no crazy stories this time... Maybe next time!

ITF added this comment:

Yup, lots of fun as always, and people continue to derive value from happy hours. Seconded the appreciation of the new faces and the growing numbers of people with each one!

this is pure gold! +1 I love this kind of review thing cuz I usually wrote about my own. You are a very qualified organizer. Hope to meet you and TNA in person sometime
