Landlord asking for current employment letter

Current incoming analyst applying for an apartment in NYC. While I have a guarantor, I still have to submit my employment info. The only doc I have proving my income is my return offer letter from my SA. They are saying that the letter of employment must be within 90 days and to request a current employment letter stating my position, start date, and salary. Is this common and have other people dealt with this?
