Last Semester Senioritis - Will my work ethic come back after graduation?
Just finished up my last semester of college and heading into training for my bank in a month or two. In all honesty, I spent my last months of college drinking all day with my fraternity brothers and having too much fun in general - I went to a top 3 public university that is known for partying just as much academics. I’m sure (?) a lot of current college seniors can relate to this.
As I start the transition to my full time role, I feel as though my head isn’t in the game as much as it was during recruiting and that these last few weeks have allowed me to build some bad habits in terms of sleeping, getting assignments in, and being healthy.
To recent college grads (or anyone): what did you do mentally prepare yourself for IB between the time you graduated and started training? Did anyone else go through a bad case of senioritis in college? If so, was your transition to IB from college seamless or did it take a lot of effort on your end?
Really hoping to spark a discussion about overcoming senioritis in college but just as interested in hearing about people’s transition from college to banking.
You can party as much as you fucking want after hours at your job. Just be there when you’re supposed to be there and turn in your shit and you’ll be fine.
This could be a strong asset - going out and meeting people in NYC is strong game. You’ll always be tight with the people you have wasted crazy nights with in the city.
