letters of recommendation through Facebook

I'm having trouble getting academic letters of recommendation due to the fact that I graduated 6 years ago. And even then, I never had a solid relationship with any of my professors. I have one of my professors on facebook. I've never spoken to him since I added him, and I don't have his email. So my question is how acceptable is it to ask him for a letter of recommendation on Facebook? or Should I ask for his email and send him a message? Any help is appreciated.

Do you even know that he will remember who you are?

Why do you want a rec letter from a professor from 6 years ago? No one else responded because this is a ridiculous question.
