We should probably do a live karaoke meetup at Arlene's Grocery on the Lower East Side on Friday sometime. Some senior members of WSO have already been there and delivered stellar performances.
For those who are not familiar with the format, live karaoke means that you have an actual band of professional musicians (drummer, bass and guitar players) backing you up instead of singing to a lifeless machine. It is definitely a lot of fun. Also if we do it on Friday we can head to Pianos after which is right around the corner. Yours truly is a regular at both places so I can probably get you to skip the HUGE line on Friday, at least if you are dressed to impressive or a girl...

You never know whom you are gonna run into while there, it could a valuable business contact (as has happened to me on several occasions, you would be surprised how many directors and MDs hang out at this ostentatiously hipster bar ) or some random actors like, say, JIM CARREY:

They dont have Lady Gaga unfortunately. It is mostly 70s and 80s Rock songs, hence the name Rock n Roll Karaoke. If you are a Metal Head or just enjoy bands like U2, BON JOVI, Guns N Roses, Led Zeppelin etc. you will feel right at home there.
I am there pretty much every week when I am not traveling. The hosts and several of the band members are good friends of mine, as are many of the staff that work there. They are great people. So let me know when you stop by and I will look out for you. I have videos of fellow WSO members performing there and, in my state of drunkenness almost posted it on this forum last Thursday. Haha.
