London and Pairs. SUGGESTIONS wanted!

Hello Monkeys,

Headed to London and Paris for the first time next month with my gf. In London we will be staying by St. James Park (I think this is considered Soho?). In Paris we will be right by the Notre Dame Cathedral. Open to any suggestions/advice you guys may have. This is my first time going to Europe.

Thanks for the help.

There is far more to do in both those cities than can be done justice in one forum post. TripAdvisor is a good starting point.

London: When I was in London my favorite spot was the Imperial War Museum. Also they were still building the Shard back then and I think it is now open with an observation deck at the top.

London tips - get an Oyster card, learn to take the Underground and buses as taxis are expensive. If you're flying into LHR and staying in Soho you can probably skip the Heathrow Express and just take the Underground for about the same speed.

Paris: I don't even know if the area near Notre Dame is open to the public yet after the fire. I imagine it's sealed off by police.

In Paris I really liked the Trocadero area and walking from there to the Eiffel Tower. Louvre is a must (you won't get through it even if you stay an entire day) and Centre Pompidou is fantastic also. I walked from Arc de Triomphe all the way to Louvre, through several parks, and it was great.

Paris tips - watch out for pickpockets and thieves. They're ubiquitous and work in teams. Don't give your attention to any stranger who tries talking to you, especially on the street or on the metro. Also people speak better English than you think, don't be afraid to ask for directions etc.
