London WSO Drinks

It has been a while since we Brits got together for a few pints and now that "that exam" is over, it is high time we enjoyed the wonderful London summer!

So far we have had 2 events, both with a decent-ish turnout. The evenings usually started off a bit slow with nobody really knowing who anyone else was, but once a couple of rounds were in it was like everyone was old friends! Both times there has been a group of people who have ended up staying far too late and drinking far too much, which is kind of the point....

I'm looking to make this into a bit more of a regular thing (every other month or so) and hopefully expand the turnout.

We will be either at Dion (see below) or the Anthologist (Bank / St Pauls) on Thursday, June 20th starting at 7:30m. Both are within a 5 minute walk of each other and I shall post final arrangements on Wednesday.

Dion (next to St Pauls) - http://www.dionlondon.co.uk/dion_stpauls.htm

If the weather is not so permitting, then The Anthologist is always good fun (near Cheapside / Bank).

There will be drinks, good company and good weather so get involved! Spread the word, invite your friends.

Comments / suggestions very welcome below with further details / plans to follow.

That's in the first week of my internship, but I'm keeping an eye on this thread in order to see whether I"ll be able to make it.

Date is pretty flexible. If theres a lot of people who wouldn't be able to make it for similar reasons then there is no reason why it couldn't be the week before / after.

A week earlier would probably be better for lots of people.

Just an FYI on Madison, it doesn't serve pints.

I would love to go, but internship begins on the 24th. I suspect many people start their training/work that week, could we maybe do it a week earlier?

Dion is a nice place, been there a couple of times.

Madison looks fantastic!

Anyways, keep us posted, I'm coming if the date permits.

Dion does serve beer so weather permitting, that looks like a good venue. If it looks cold / non sunny then the Anthologist is a great place and also within walking distance from Bank / St Pauls. Current details are looking like Thursday 20th June starting between 7 and 8. Original post updated. More details to follow this week.

Anthologist is definitely a good shout if the weather decides to be average. Although it is also dangerously close to Abacus...

You're better than that. I'm very glad I haven't been to Abacus in over a year. But anyway, the club to really be wary of is Reflex. All varying levels of shit, really.

Your bars are called things like "The Anthologist"? Wow, lol. In Noo Yawk, the bars are called things like Burp Castle, etc.

Well, could be worse!

That's a great little pub, don't diss it!

I mean, really? You have to whole of shoreditch and the city to choose from, why would that ever be on your radar? Even the Liv St wetherspoons is preferable.

To confirm - plan is for THIS THURSDAY (20th), 7:30pm at Dion bar. If the weather is bad (and it looks like it might be....) then we will rearrange to the Anthologist which is about a 5 minute walk from either St Pauls or Bank station.

Post here if you have any questions or feel free to pm me. I will be there for 7:30, if at least one other person could get there at that time so I am not drinking alone for a bit that would be much appreciated :D

I will post a final update on Wednesday. Hope to see you all there!
