May need adult braces - anyone have experience?
The dentist has always complimented my teeth. I used the chew on sticks as a kid and credit that to having hella strong teeth. Anyways, I’ve noticed one of my bottom teeth has slowly been shifting. My teeth are damn near straight and the dentist always said braces aren’t worth it as a kid, but I don’t want this to get worse.
I figure catch it early and the recovery won’t be too long. Maybe a year max? Anyone get braces older in life? What about like Invisalign?
Sounds like you could probably do Invisalign if only one tooth is misaligned but i decided m to get braces again when I was mid 20s since I was shit at wearing my retainer as a kid. Really wasn't a big deal at all. They make clear ones now that aren't very noticeable. Felt self conscious for about a week and got over it.
My teeth weren’t exactly perfect as a kid but as an adult they get visibly worse. I got invisalign a few months ago and so far so good. People actually do not notice unless I tell them or if I open my mouth really really wide.
Not to mention that you can just take them off if you have like an important meeting and want your teeth to look more natural when speaking and taking pictures.
If you do actually need it, then certainly do it. Invisalign wouldn't be a bad idea if you're that proactive. If you had to get something more serious, nothing wrong with that either. If anyone who would want to grief you for whatever reason and make you feel any kind of shame, which I'm guessing is what you're hinting at, can pound sand while you blatantly point out to them you actually give a good...you know the rest...about your own personal health and that's why you took action about it.
Not to mention Hindenburning their argument by pointing out "thanks to our dental benefits along with being compensated properly? I can, and do, take care of myself."
Currently have invisalign. Ortho gave the option for traditional braces or invisalign. No one notices/comments on it and my coworkers only know I have the retainers because I've taken them out before lunch with them, etc.
I didn't need them but got them anyway while I worked at a bank... didn't give a F... get them, even to ease the smallest of concerns. we're all about being the best versions of ourselves
I know tons of people who have done Invisalign as an adult. Honestly not unusual, doubt anyone will be weird about it even if you're taking them out for lunch. Would highly recommend this route if it's an option
Even if you need more work than that, not the end of the world. People are typically fairly mature about others having this type of thing as an adult
How much does invisalign cost? I'm thinking of maybe getting it next year. I still have a week left of open enrollment to change my dental coverage beyond what's included in my regular health insurance plan.
Been researching and seems anywhere from 3k to 10k
Might I suggest medical tourism to somewhere like Costa Rica or Belize? May not be too much cheaper, all considered, but you do get a wicked vacation out of it too along the way.
Just get some freaking brilliant chiclets slammed in there. Jet down to costa rica and have a surf dentist give you a new grill.
I had Invisalign as an adult. Total gamechanger, 10/10 experience.
Of course going to ask my dentist, but my research has given me the belief that Invisalign would be the best option for me. My teeth aren’t perfect, but they’re in great shape. Just don’t want something that’s a non-issue to end up causing problems down the road, especially when it’s a relatively easy fix
I am currently on my last set of aligners for the Invisalign treatment with an overbite (highly complicated treatment). It took me 6 consults before I found one willing to accept my case and for about 2/3 of the price of others.
Get a diverse set of quotes before settling down. Check past reviews, before and after. Make sure the office visits correlates with your schedule. It took a year, and the year flew by. Changed my life so far, and things are better. Get it done now, might be some initial pain but that is part of the process.
