McDonald's Offers Rare Szechuan Sauce

On Saturday, McDonald's in the US brought back its Szechuan Sauce in extremely limited quantities. It was originally made in 1998, for the movie, "Milan" and it recently rose to popularity after being featured in "Rick and Morty" this year.

Because of extremely limited supply, many customers who had waited in line for hours didn't receive anything. Many people became upset and angry, and the cops had to be called in some cases. People even drove 4 hours to participating restaurants to get their hands on this sauce.

However, McDonald's announced it would bring back the sauce again in the winter in order to meet demand. Read more here.

  • Are people for real? Lining up and getting angry over a sauce?
  • Have any of you tried the Szechuan sauce? I heard it wasn't even good, so what's the big deal, or is this just one big meme?

The most entertaining thing to have arisen from this is the schezuan sauce packets being auctionned off for the hefty sum of 500$ on eBay, when Rick and Morty fans thought it would be a limited release... Except a day later McDs revealed that they would bring back the sauce on a larger scale this winter haha.

Imagine spending 500$ on some shitty McDs sauce you think is exclusive, only to realize you could've gotten one for 1$ a month later.

I bid on two containers for $1,235. They should be in the mail. Where are these $500 deals - do you have a link?

Unemployed lower-middle class Americans use their time in such mind blowing ways. This isn't an attempt to knock the poor in any way or as an entire group. This is an attempt to knock those who seem to waste hours of their time acquiring something that is worthless. I was reading about all these people who wait in line for fucking shake shack for 1+ hours, just to get a mediocre hamburger. Anyone with any sense of time management and capable of a simple cost-benefit analysis could see why this wouldn't be a great idea.

Anyone who can do a cost benefit analysis doesn't eat at sake shack.

I never have gone to the Madison Square Park location as it is too packed, but have been to the UES location as well as one in LA (Glendale), which were both pretty fast.

I really like Shake Shack....

TL:DR

McDonalds uses a tv show to market an extremely common sauce as if it is some kind of rare pokemon and gets a bunch of nerds to protest their stores because they foolishly underestimated the demand.
