Membership pay for WSO?
that "JOIN US TODAY! IT's FREE" on the top right... gives me the feeling WSO will start charging a one time membership pay in the near future.

I'm not going to make that mistake. Having new users register every day and a lot of activity in the forums is what keeps WSO healthy. It's just important to make sure the students that received valuable guidance from WSO give back once they are professionals.
I've bootstrapped the past 3 years, no reason to think I cant do the same over the next 3. Besides, we are doing better than ever on a number of fronts so why potentially throw it all away by charging members a fee?
Charging a fee for premium sections of the site, ok...charging for registration and participation in the forums = stupid in my opinion.

exactly, why would patrick do that if he can make it free, therefore get a lot of visitors and get paid by advertisers?
