Mets Outfielder Kevin Pillar Was hit in the Face with a Fastball - Face Shields

Last night, Mets outfielder Kevin Pillar was hit in the face with a 95 MPH fastball.  I have been watching baseball for a long time, but I have never seen something this awful in a baseball game.  He is fortunate to be alive. Lots of pitchers today are throwing close to 100mph and it can be hazardous to one's health to be standing in the batters box.

My baseball views are very traditional and old school.  With that said, I think it would make sense for players to wear a face shield.  Hockey players wear helmets along with a face shield and goalies wear a cage.  In the old days, none of the hockey players wore a helmet, not even the goalie.    Lots of girls softball players wear masks.  I think it is time for MLB players to consider wearing a face shield.

this is just like the situation F1 had with halos being very controversial but actually ended up saving two or three drivers in accidents that would have killed them without a halo
