Moving back to Manhattan - What to do...

Getting ready to move back to Manhattan in Sept. I've gone back and forth about whether I want to move, but De Blasio's announcement requiring vaccines has sent me off a ledge. Given I'm 2/3rds the way thru the year and optimistic about this year's bonus, what is there to do in this situation? Find a short term rental til Feb and dip (and quit job, have been contemplating doing so already), sign a lease and then sublease to someone?

I loved pre-covid New York, but am very much looking forward to not living here any longer...

EDIT: I have the vaccine, I'm just a big proponent of things like freedom, liberty, personal choice, etc etc

Lol after they published that vaccines could accelerate the spread of new variants AND that vaccinated people can spread the virus. I believe in vaccines (that's why I got it), but if someone doesn't want it let that be their problem.

Where was this published?  I highly doubt it, viruses mutate by reproducing and spreading among people which is much more frequent among unvaccinated people.  Basic biology

AND that vaccinated people can spread the virus

Much, much less likely than unvaccinated.  https://www.nytimes.com/2021/07/30/health/cdc-vaccinated-delta.html

It's not just their problem, it's everyone's.  Countless people will die if a new variant appears that is deadlier, more contagious, or resistant to vaccines.  Most unvaccinated people (51%) think Bill Gates is gonna inject them with microchips, we are dealing with really fucking stupid people.  I can't stand DeBlasio but no wonder he ran out of patience

I’m in a similar boat as you. Given your thoughts on freedom etc this isn’t the place to be, but there are obviously other factors. I’m not really sure how much NY is going to “come back.”
