NASA Manned Moon Landing 2025

Given the news in this day and age, I think most people are unaware that NASA currently has a manned Moon landing planned for early summer, 2025. This is known as the "Artemis 3" mission. Artemis 1 will take place next month, in May 2022; it is unmanned and is planned to orbit the Moon. Artemis 2 is planned for May 2024 and is planned on being a manned mission that will orbit the Moon but won't land. Finally, if all went to plan, Artemis 3 would be mankind's first return to the Lunar Surface since December 1972. Given that Apollo 11 was in July 1969, we have only had an extraterrestrial presence for less than 4 years. It's sad that NASA has had such poor funding since the end of the Space Race. One can only imagine how far we'd have come if the mentality of the Space Race never ended (ignoring weapons development).

Obviously there is no guarantee this will happen on schedule or even at all this decade, but if it does, I think that would be so cool. My parents used to tell me how they were little kids when the whole neighborhood was surrounding those small B&W tvs in 1969  watching Neil Armstrong. Can't wait to see what happens this time.

On a side note, I am curious if the racial/sexual make-up of the crew becomes a political hot topic.

The fact that the Chinese (CNSA) have not announced a manned mission is very interesting to me. This would be a definitive, indisputable win on the global scale if they could beet the United States back to the moon. Makes me think they're not close. Them being truly close would be what US politicians need to actually care and make it there soon.

SLS will explode on LP-39A, mark my words. That orange dong is literally a Frankenrocket, underpowered, with yesterday´s tech, and built by organizations that have their logo in Wikipedia as representation of corporate calcification and red tape madness. I want NASA to succeed, just as much as I want to see Wang, Ivan, and Pajeet fail, but they seriously need to overhaul their entire sourcing structure really fucking fast and get more lean, like, right now. Then again, not everyone is SpaceX...

...and the Truth shall set you free

SLS is a shitshow of a rocket. The Starship lander could be capable of doing the trip itself but they have to do some frankenstein transfer where they launch on SLS transfer to Starship via a space station orbiting the moon that doesn't exist yet

SLS will also cost 4 BILLION per launch. Outrageous how these defense and space contractors can nickle and dime the government
