Please do not do a disservice to the SEAL team's accomplishment and draw the focus off of them by introducing canned FOX lines. Aid workers and the military work side by side towards the same goal. My asessment of the vitriol towards anyone who's not on an "epic fucking life" of GOPism is that they have some personal issues they're projecting into the public domain, and if you haven't noticed, the GOP is not even getting anywhere with this approach.Focus yourself on your own life instead.

Sorry but a seal team taking out a few pirates randomly waving ak47s does not quality as a strategic military victory.
The SEAL team did their job, and did it well. For that, they are to be commended.

If you want to talk about impressive how about those SEAL snipers that shot 3 dudes on a boat, from a boat...at night.
That still boggles my mind. I'm a decent shot (qualified expert in the Marines), but I can't even conceive of making a shot like that, much less three of them.

The Navy SEALS do this day in, day out regardless of whom the president happens to be. The fact that the general public now knows Seal Team 6 (or for that matter, Delta) is not good. These guys don't need extra attention and if I was their commander, I'd be very concerned about the operational security of my team. Celebrity and ninjas don't mix.
Understandable, but we have very little tangible information about the operators personally. Sure, we know their bases, selection process, etc. but in terms of knowing these guys' personal stories, we're in the dark. And that's how it should be, I wouldn't be too afraid of the "celebrity" mindset getting to their heads, because these guys are professionals. In the SOTU address Obama quoted a SEAL who took down Bin Laden as giving credit to the rest of the team rather than just to himself. Amazing people.
I can count several friends in the "operators" group and you're absolutely right, they're amazing people. The quiet professionals. I do take issue, however, when photos of current group members are published. That's crossing the line.
The reason given that it was authorized now was because girl had a life-threatening medical condition that took a turn for the worse. Whether that's actually true or not is whatever but that's a viable reason in my mind.
How is that a viable reason to let terrorists parade around for 3 months? We have resources in the area. You hit them with in a week of the kidnapping.
