ND vs Michigan
Im a senior in hs and very torn between applying ED to Michigan and REA to ND. I love Notre Dame’s campus and the spiritual side of it and the academics are about equal (with a slight edge towards ND bc of uncompetitive culture) from my perspective. My only doubt is the way Michigan is viewed as being one of the most fun partying schools in the country whereas Notre Dame doesnt quite have that reputation. I don’t need the most extravagant party life, I just want to be able to go out Thursday-Saturday consistently if I want. Does ND have this ND checks every box I just don’t want to look back and regret and think I could’ve had WAY more fun somewhere else. Can any recent domers help me out?
If you like playing sports, come to ND. There are parties just about every weekend, and they're pretty easy to find, but I honestly couldn't have more fun than I do at ND. There are section sports within your hall, and there are interhall sports where you compete on behalf of your hall against other ND guys. Beyond that, we have your normal rec/club sports. Football games are insanely fun as well. Great community from day 1, and it's easy to find guys that will have your back. Literally on more in day we had football games going on the quads. We have super strong pipelines, and there's even hall pipelines where guys from your dorm will go to bat for you. In my 250ish person hall, we have multiple going to the same bank, and just yesterday a guy stayed up until midnight talking about the recruiting process. I'm really happy here, as I feel like the day-to-day life is just unmatched. Thursday is mostly upperclassmen going to bars, but friday/saturday is insane. You could always go REA ND and then EA UMich if you wanted to as well
Great response. Is there a reason only upperclassman go to the bars? Are they strict on fakes?
This varies from college to college, but usually college towns are more strict than cities when it comes to fakes. They don’t have other crime to actually worry about. And I’m old, so this was years ago. Fake identification has only gotten better.
When I was in undergrad, up until 21 it was all frat parties and house parties. Then when 21 hit, the bars became much cooler.
It's not only upperclassmen, and lots of underclassmen do too, but there's just more people (girls) your age at the dorm parties, and once people turn 21 they want something new to do, so it kinda self-segregates in a way that makes it really easy to hang out with the people that you're looking to hang out with.
