I understand this is a bit off topic so I apologize for that.
One of my friends will be in the hospital for a week or so and I wanted to get him a book to read while he's posted up there. I figured some of you guys would have some good ideas. Although he's a finance guy, a non-finance book may be refreshing. Thanks a lot.
American Prometheus by Martin Sherwin. The most interesting book I've ever read--won the pulitzer a few years ago, took him 30 years to write. Hope he gets better.

Yeah, that's what I'd recommend for someone in the hospital a week. It's a fast-paced page turner, but there's about 900 pages so it still takes a while to read.
Something a bit lighthearted seems appropriate..

If he likes Coen Bro. movies their next one will be from the book The Yiddish Policemen's Union by Michael Chabon. Pretty good book, and it was very easy to visualize how it will translate on film.
The Fairy Gunmother by Daniel Pennac. I don't know how good the translation but it's very entertaining and different.
