New Generation
While skimming the front page of the WSJ this afternoon, I came across an article on a new generation of symphony. The purpose of the article is to show how the performing arts industry is evolving with the times. Music director Andrew Litton states that, "You can no longer just sit there and play Beethoven." Okay...I can see how that might be a little dry but what can you replace classical masterpieces with? Video game inspired performances that are becoming the norm all over the country.
Any thoughts on this? I find it pitiful that these musicians and performers are leaving the traditional values of this art and are not leaving any concrete example of what classical music is for future performers.
