numerical test

Hi all,

So I'm prepping myself up to do these logic, verbal and numerical reasoning tests in anticipation for job applications. I'm not the best at these mainly due to time constraints, so practice for me is key. I was doing this one earlier and for the life of me I couldn't get it. I mean I got the right answer purely out of luck but can someone help please understand the logic for this one?

Thanks!

Just taking an initial look I would have first calculated the % of Ned/Eng population factoring in England’s population growth. So, 27.53%/(1+0.639%) = 27.36% for year one and 27.53%/(1+ 0.639%)^2 = 27.18% for year two. Assuming this is cumulative number of people unemployed in England, 667,284/27.36% + 667,284/27.18% = c.4.9m so I must be missing something.

Interesting, your logic makes more sense than mine. What I did was this:

Netherlands unemployed population = 667,284. England population = 667,284/27.53% = 2,423,843 in 2009.

Then I escalated England's population of 2,423,843 in 2009 by (1+0.639%) to get pop in 2010 (2.5mill), then escalated the 2010 population by (1+0.639%) to get 2011 pop (2.7mill) total which got me like 5.3mill haha.

Man this is killing me
