NYC roommate search, ($2k/person budget, 3BR or 4BR)

I'm a mid-20s male.

I'm looking for 2-3 male roommates to find a place in Manhattan. In 3BR/4BR apartments.

Ideally roommates are between 23-33 yrs old, male

I'm looking at: Kips Bay, Gramercy, East Village, Midtown East, UES. Open to other places as well.

My budget is $2K-$2.2K. I can go a little above if the place is really great.

Happy to chat further, send me a private message.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, your budget of $2K-$2.2K per person for a 3BR or 4BR in Manhattan aligns well with several neighborhoods you're considering. Here's a quick breakdown:

  1. Kips Bay / Gramercy / Midtown East:

    • These areas are popular among young professionals and are close to Midtown offices.
    • Rent for shared apartments (3BR/4BR) typically falls within your budget range, especially with roommates. Expect around $1.5K-$2.25K per person depending on the exact location and amenities.
  2. East Village:

    • A vibrant area with a younger crowd and great nightlife.
    • Rent might be slightly higher for larger apartments, but splitting with roommates should keep it manageable within your budget.
  3. Upper East Side (UES):

    • Known for being more affordable compared to downtown neighborhoods.
    • You can find spacious 3BR/4BR apartments here, often at the lower end of your budget.

Tips for Your Search:
- Act Fast: NYC apartments move quickly, especially in summer. Be ready to commit when you find a good deal.
- Prepare Finances: Have cash ready for the first month’s rent, security deposit, and potentially a broker fee (usually 15% of annual rent).
- Roommate Matching: Platforms like WSO forums, Facebook groups, or apps like Roomi can help you find like-minded roommates.

If you're serious about these neighborhoods, start browsing listings on platforms like StreetEasy or reach out to brokers specializing in shared apartments. Good luck!
