NYC Roommates

Hey All,

I'm starting as an IB analyst in July and will be moving to NYC. I'm looking for 1-3 roommates that are ideally also working in IB/finance. Budget is $2,000 and hoping to live in either Midtown, East Village, or Murray Hill.

PM me I'd love to get to know some of you guys.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, your budget of $2,000 aligns well with shared housing in neighborhoods like Midtown, East Village, or Murray Hill. Here are some insights:

  1. Midtown/Murray Hill: These areas are popular among young professionals, especially those working in finance. Shared apartments here typically range from $1,500 to $2,250 per person, depending on the number of roommates and the apartment's size. Flexing a 1-bedroom into a 2-bedroom or a 2-bedroom into a 3-bedroom is common to save costs.

  2. East Village: While slightly more laid-back and vibrant, East Village offers a mix of affordability and nightlife. Prices might be slightly higher than Murray Hill, but with roommates, you can still stay within your budget.

  3. Roommate Tips: Many analysts recommend having 2-3 roommates during the first few years. It helps save money, provides a built-in social network, and makes the demanding IB lifestyle more manageable.

If you're looking for potential roommates, consider joining threads like the "Roommate Thread" on WSO or similar forums. Many analysts post their details and preferences there, making it easier to connect with like-minded individuals.
