Opening Day - Any Baseball Fans Out There?

Today is opening day and the season seems to be starting earlier every year. I am a Mets fan but I will also root for my local team, which is the Phillies.

Any predictions?

The Mets have improved by acquiring Cano, Diaz, Ramos and Lowrie. As a result, they may be able to complete a little better than last year. The Mets fans are hoping for big numbers from the rookie, Alonso. He ripped it up in AA/AAA last year and had a great spring training. Also, the bullpen may not be the disaster that it was last year.

The Phillies have improved substantially. They picked up a bunch of very good players including Harper. They should score a lot of runs this year but their pitching may hold them back. One very good addition to their bullpen was the guy Robertson who previously pitched for the Yankees. The Astros, Dodgers, Red Sox and Brewers should also be very good again.

Lets go Yanks (born&breed new yorker). Also root for the Mets when they don't play the yankees. Mets have definitely improved a bit, i agree, will be fun to watch, ya never know what your gunna get with them!

If you want the ultimate, you have to be willing to pay the ultimate price.

"CRE" Braves should be solid yet ultimately disappointing, like usual.

This couldn't have aged better. Really spot on.

4-1 to start the season and a half a game out of first place. Who would have thought that would be possible? I think they should consider releasing Chris Davis. Last year, he batted 168 and this year he is batting 000 so far.

I’m a fan of the other black and orange dumpster fire (SF). Rooting for Padres and their young team to surprise in the division.

Hard to argue against another LA/BOS series but who knows, I’d like the Cubs rotation to figure it out.

Well, one day is in the books. deGrom with some help from Cano led the Mets to a 2-0 win. Typical Met game with very little offensive production but not surprising because the opposing pitcher was this guy Scherzer. He is a beast. The Phillies also won and scored a lot of runs. It is going to be fun to watch the Phillies games this year.

As a counterpoint I like the NBA, but I’d consider a 140-130 Western Conference game more boring than a typical 3-2 baseball game. Different strokes and all that.

I'm a Mariners fan, because I hate myself.

Want to confuse correlation with causation? Me too: the Mariners haven't been to the playoffs since the real Layne Staley died.
