Palin-sanity

I don’t know about anyone else, but I am thrilled whenever I see Sarah Palin appear on the political scene. There is some feeling of mirth I get that exists only when she has a chunk of time on center stage- even Trump’s obscenely insensitive remarks fail to inspire that same feeling of joy, which is why I am happy to share with you all the best of her endorsement speech, courtesy of the NY Times. My personal favorite:

“And you quit footing the bill for these nations who are oil-rich, we’re paying for some of their squirmishes that have been going on for centuries. Where they’re fighting each other and yelling ‘Allahu akbar,’ calling jihad on each other’s heads forever and ever. Like I’ve said before, let them duke it out and let Allah sort it out.”

On one hand I definitely feel that Palin gets excessively criticized for being Palin- I’m sure if you pick apart speeches from any candidate you’d find numerous things to ridicule for either their grammatical or factual shortcomings. However, she does have quite a way with words, and at some point you’d figure that she might hire a better speech-writer. Regardless, who thinks that her presence on the campaign trail is going to be a good thing for Trump? Or, will it end up coming back to bite him in the ass…

Absolutely not. Having Palin has exactly one benefit for Trump: it puts a chip in Cruz's "evangelical" popularity.

That said, I personally think the Palins represent the worst kind of fake conservatism. They have a family where mom is the breadwinner and the daughter has two kids by two men and apparently didn't know who the father of the second one was. If you judge by actions, not words, Bristol is actually to the left of the "Sex and the City" crowd.

This family attracts the most annoying type of cuckservative. Just check any Facebook thread about them, like the one on Brietbart now. Their "fans" are crowing that people need to "forgive" Bristol if they're "truly Christian."

Anyone who knows the type will see an ugly familiarity here. It's the "wife up that single mom!" religious crowd. Morals for men -- but not for women! God wants us to invade Muslim countries ! It's the same kind of poisonous, insincere Christianity that has been extremely damaging to the country.

But with all that in mind, there remains one uncomfortable fact: You need these idiot cuckservatives on your side if you want to win as a Republican. Trump clearly knows this. So he's called on Palin to lure them in -- just like a baseball manager needs to hold his nose and put in the asshole relief pitcher he doesn't like because he knows the guy can win the game for the team.
