Podcasts - Looking for Insight on How to Create One.

I am in the very early part of the process of creating a podcast for my education/investment business. To be honest, my high tech skills are kind of weak. So far, I have learned that one can host it on his or her own website or hire a third party like a Podbean or Buzzsprout to host it. I guess the advantages of using a third party to host would be distribution and to make it sound/look professional. There are many companies that do this type of thing. I have also discovered that editing is difficult to do with a third party host. Many people use a third party for editing such as a company like Audacity.

Could anyone here who has experience with creating a podcast share some insight? Thank you.

At some point, you might want to do live and recorded. I think live helps your reputation while recorded helps you efficiently monetize the business
