I think Democrats can run a burnt turd in 2026 and still win. It's going to be absolutely brutal for Republicans no matter what. A blue collar progressive in Maine and a genuine Christian in Texas are only going to help things.
Trump supporters were calling him the literal antichrist earlier this week because of his boomer Jesus meme, and that ignores all of the normal people who are tired of ICE violence, the government pretending like Trump isn't in the Epstein files more than Christ is in the Bible, the president tweeting disses at the Pope at 4am, paying more money at the pump to go to war because Israel says so, the absolute buffoonery and corruption by senior government officials, the party of "family values" always being revealed as closet homosexuals (or transexuals in Bryon Noem's case), and the garbage economy.
People are waking up the fact that a corrupted capitalism compounds into neo-feudalism. 80s and 000s greed / financial engineering with no consequences. 90s, cloud, and now AI tech concentrated wealth creation. Fiscal stimulus wasted on forever wars. Monetary stimulus used to benefit asset owners and take away labor purchasing power. Now an Orwellian government that lies and in our face rips us off for billions, accomplishable via fake cultural outrage to pit the peasants against each other. Our society is metastasizing. Hopefully it can be resolved without prole on prole bloodshed.
