Porn addiction

Hello,

I think I have a problem with porn.

I am masturbating almost everyday even when I am really tired or when I should do others important things such as the gmat preparation. And during the week-end, it's even worse, I can masturbate 2-3 times a day if I stay in my room (studying for the GMAT).

I think I am doing that shit because I am anxious and stressed. This year is going to hugely influential in my life, I am taking the GMAT & TOEFL in few months, currently intern in a boutique M&A, CFA in june and I am also looking for another internship just before to start my Master.

So as you can see, I have a lot to do and I don't want to fuck up. I have done a lot of mistakes before, so this is my ''last chance'' I guess.

Do you guys have/had the same problem? How can I deal with that addiction?

thanks

Find a girlfriend.

you need to get busy in something to the point where you don't have time for that.

Porn addiction isn't about porn or a obsession with sex. It's basically your stress ball. Venting + a way to blow off anxiety and boredom.

I'd suggest getting busier in something.

I don't know your unique situation but I think generally porn/sex addiction is a symptom of a root cause. In many cases some underlying circumstance/situation triggers an emotional reaction, which then leads you to masturbate/view porn as a form of release. It's not always in this sequence but this is usually the progression done many times over to a make sustained cognitive pathway where your mind interprets event X --> Emotional Reaction Y --> Exit/Release through action Z, which in your case may potentially be watching pornography.

I don't think a girlfriend will help if you are doing this for underlying reasons. My personal recommendation is for you to take mental note of each instance from here on that you feel like masturbating or watching porn. Take a step back and jot down the events that occurred a few moments prior, and how you felt. If you do this over the course of a few days/weeks, you should be able to identify the trigger factor that causes you to enter into a never ending cycle of the same.

It's a rather unfortunate condition for folks that are addicted (which may not be the case for you). Your brain tends to let out a cocktail of drugs and hormones on par with some very powerful stimulants. I would certainly advise against both because they may adversely impact your concentration/mental drive after a certain point, but I've no doubts you'll be fine if you take the conscious steps of moving past it. All the best :)
