Post-Employment Benefits Q's

In what situations / what industries / what type of companies would you need to pay extra attention to pension plans?

How often do you encounter defined benefit vs. contribution pension plans, and how applicable is a working knowledge on the subject, esp. in terms of accounting practices etc.?

If someone has any examples of 10k's where the subject is addressed, would be very helpful as well!

Thank you
