Problem with School Group

Hey guys, I was wondering if you could help me out with my current scenario.

For my University, I am put into groups for the entire semester. My group (group of 6 including myself) is filled with very nice people, and are hardworking (only 3 of them). However, they don't speak to me or another person a lot. All they do is constantly complain about teachers, and have stupid inside jokes and it constantly pisses me off.

At first I thought it was a race issue because the other 4 group members are all white, and my friend and me are Asian. But I started to think it's just because we're not as personable. People who know me know me as extremely personable and a jokester even, but the things is, I don't like to constantly revolve the conversation to make it about me. Also, I don't like to complain because I came from an immigrant family who grew up in a shitty neighborhood who went bankrupt.

Their values are different from mine and I understand that. So, I've been trying really hard to include myself in the conversations but complimenting them, adding on to their conversations, and working hard on our group projects. Still, they don't recognize my ideas.

It pisses me off because I want to create group synergy, but they keep leaving me and my friend out, and they never even include us a part of anything.

Worst of all, the other asian kid is a spoiled rich kid who is lazy, and I cannot reasonate with.

What else can I do to create synergy with my teammates. I reached out to you guys because I wanted a different perspective.
