Question to those that speak multiple languages
I am currently bilingual, speaking English and Russian. Im born and raised in LA and for about 3 years I worked in a Mexican restaurant with primarily Spanish speaking employees and clientele so my Spanish is ok in the sense that I’d be fine if I go on vacation to LatAm. I’m definitely not fluent but my Spanish pronunciation and understanding of the grammar and sentence structure is pretty solid.
Would using Duolingo help me reach fluency level, combined with practicing with native Spanish speakers? Or should I go for Rosetta Stone. Thanks guys
This site helped me become fluent in both Spanish and Portuguese pretty quickly:
ditto, italki is the difference maker
rosetta stone is trash, save your money
duolingo is fine for basic stuff but you need a multifaceted approach
source: I speak 3 languages, currently learning my 4th & 5th
I use Duolingo and it worked for me. It helps get to a basic fluency, like for going on vacation and maybe a little beyond.
If you want to actually learn it will be a commitment. Rosetta Stone will be that commitment. Duolingo won’t teach you the grammar and syntax you need to form sentences on the fly versus memorizing
