Real life Rambo

What this marine did defines the art of being a badass. Glad he's being honored.

https://www.foxnews.com/us/2011/09/15/memorials-s…

He went 8-0 in that CoD:MW2 round. Probably his favorite map.

"Meyer charged through heavy insurgent gunfire on five death-defying trips in an armored Humvee to save 13 Marines and Army soldiers and another 23 Afghan troops pinned down by withering enemy fire. Meyer personally killed at least eight insurgents despite taking a shrapnel wound to one arm as he manned the gun turret of the Humvee and provided covering fire for the soldiers, according to the military."

That guy deserves a double high five...or a single high ten...whichever.

It's amazing the courage some people can display while others, such as the bystanders in the McDonald's beating from a few months back, do nothing. I'm not sure if it has to do with the cloth you are cut from or if it's just the manner in which you are raised but I'm glad that these types of folks find their way into out military and I'm proud to have served with many men and women who would have sacrificed their life for mine.

Regards

Amen brother.

This guy is what this country was founded on. God Bless'em!

The WSJ goes a little more in depth in to the situation. Apparently the cpt. he was with, who has also been nominated for the MoH, resigned from the army because of the shitty way this was handled. Amazing story. Props to these guys.

Hearing about people like this make me second guess my decision to not go into the military after HS to play a college sport. Being able to be around people of his caliber would be a great honor.

Totally agree. Also keep in mind that the article it says that two officers were getting reamed for being, and I quote, "inadequate and ineffective". Dude, I'd HATE to have a CO like that, and you don't have a say.....

Watch Generation Kill, I told you. I know it's only a show (based on the actual story though), but there are plenty of examples of that "ineffectiveness".

Yeah, despite being a show, that was a very accurate portrayal of how things were.
