Realizing finance is not for you? Moving from finance to a completely different industry
Context: I'll be going into college soon with the goal in mind of pursuing finance and I have made my college choice based that. I've been pretty certain about finance and as recruiting starts earlier & earlier, college students are forced to choose a path early on and to stick with it (sunk cost fallacy). I have several other interests that I feel I won't be able to fully explore as a career option before I put 110% into pursuing finance.
TLDR: Has anyone realized (after a couple of months or years) that finance is just not for them and they desire to be elsewhere? I'm not talking about exit opps like moving to corp. development or PE - I'm talking about a completely different industry like perhaps tech startups. Can anyone share their experiences or what you know from others?
