Recommend a perfect hotel/resort in Bali Indonesia... Urgent holiday planning!
Basically, this year I promised my boyfriend that I would arrange all the aspects of our summer getaway, because he always plans everything. I need HELP WITH the LOCATION.
Could someone suggest a great hotel/resort in Bali,Indonesia that they have stayed at? I have been researching locations for the past 1 hour and my search is pointless. Hotels always post picture perfect images, which look like computer generated images. Also, using review sites is making me more confused because I am quite skeptical on reviews from 'previous customers'. I would like suggestions on a location that is 5/4star, ideally located next to the beach.

I personally really like the area around Ubud (either the The Samaya Bali or Komaneka at Tanggayuda). But as you said you prefer to be on the beach, the south of Bali would be better for you. I can recommend the south-west in particular the area around Denpasar, Kuta and Jimbaran. Stayed in the AYANA Resort in Jimbaran and it was like heaven and you need less than one hour to get to Kuta. The north of the island is beautiful but not nice to stay for a longer time. The beaches are black and not good for vacations.
I'm also staying at AYANA in August. I'd look at st Regis in Nusa Dua as well
