Relocation Bonus & Repayment Agreement

Does anyone have any experience relocating internally for a job, accepting a relocation package, and then not fulfilling the agreed upon time commitment before leaving the company for another job?

My company/senior management, pushed me to relocate from a Middle tier city to a Midwest city (I am being gracious referring to it as a city) to get some plant operations experience. My background in the company is finance and they wanted me to take this opportunity to better round out my skill set. Essentially, the idea was I would learn the business at a much more granular level which would set me up to be a better future leader.

I am in my late 20's and at the time of the move, I believe I was the youngest manager within the company. I am less than a year into the role and I have ultimately determined this career path/industry/location (prior and current) are not where I see myself in the future.

The money and opportunity to have a much more stress free job were ultimately what drove me to take the position. While my current job is allowing me to learn a lot more about the business and I have a ton of autonomy, the position is incredibly boring and not something that will challenge me whatsoever for 2+ years.

Has anyone had a similar experience where they left before their relocation benefits were cleared (the contract I signed is pretty black and white)? And if so, how did you deal with that process? Appreciate any thoughts or feedback.
