Renting outside of Manhattan
Have supercharged rent prices pushed any of you outside of Manhattan? If so, where is everyone primarily moving to? Outer boroughs, Jersey City, Hoboken, Long Island, etc.?

Interesting thread. Have looked into JC/Hoboken but the prices there are still surprisingly high - not enough of a discount to justify a huge lifestyle move. The PATH/ferry is not great on weekends or off hours.
LIC is a pretty quick commute if you're in Midtown near the 7, underrated imo.
Almost everyone I know has eaten the higher rent and a handful moved to Brooklyn (usually just same rent, more space - i.e. 2 bedroom for a couple to get some WFH space)
Hoboken is great and somewhat underrated but prices there are close to Manhattan at this point.
Looking at LIC, but only near a subway line.
I’m not a fan of LIC or NJ. Maybe if you have a family it’s fine, but if you’re single stay in Manhattan.
How much is a decent apartment now? Think associate with SO.
1 bedroom downtown with the perks you'd expect in your late 20s/early 30s (dishwasher, W/D in unit, decent building, unit not disgusting) will easily run you $4-5k at minimum. Closer to $6k if you want something actually nice, or with enough space for 2 people to WFH.
If you're willing to live in Fidi, Murray Hill, etc you might be able to sneak in around $3.5-$4k but you will live with a lot of analyst neighbors
