Retail Banking Reccomendations?

I've had TD Bank as my retail (Checking/Savings account) bank since I was in college back in the Commerce days. They always used to be quite pleasant to work with, but recent events have left a sour taste in my mouth. I recently had to relocate for work, and between a $4k security/rent check and a $3k credit card bill both hitting a day before payday, ended up ~$15 overdrawn in my checking account. I had ~$30k sitting in an attached savings account, and transferred a few grand that same day, but despite this got hit with a $35 overdraft fee and a $25 "account maintenance fee." Because of this, and since there are no TD banks convenient to either my new apartment or my new office at corporate HQ, I am considering switching. I see BoA, Crown, Investors, and Valley, plus one or two small banks near my new apartment, and Chase, HSBC, and BoA near work. I am also likely to be spending a lot of time running around NYC/NJ. Does anyone have any opinions on switching good, bad or neutral? Since this is just going to be checking and savings I do not have significant restrictions on what bank I can use.
